WiFi Speed Test

The test transfers real data between your browser and this site's own measurement endpoint, then divides the bytes transferred by the time they took. Download is how quickly data reaches you, upload is how quickly you can send data out, and ping is the round-trip delay of a single empty request. Nothing is estimated or simulated — if a measurement cannot complete, you get an error rather than a number.

1. Close other downloads, video calls and streaming so they do not compete for bandwidth.
2. Select Start test. Latency is measured first, then download, then upload.
3. Watch the live figure while each stage runs, then read the final ping, download and upload results.
4. Select Test again to repeat the measurement — a couple of runs give a fairer picture than a single one.

Your result reflects the whole path between your device and the measurement server, so Wi-Fi signal strength, the age of your router, other devices on the same network, VPNs and the physical distance to the nearest server all affect it. Testing over a cable, or standing closer to the router, will usually show what your connection is really capable of. A single result also isn't the whole story: ping and jitter matter more than raw speed for calls and gaming.
