GPA Calculator

Calculate your GPA using subject grades or percentages and credit hours on a standard 4.0 scale.

GPA Grading System

This calculator uses a standard letter-grade scale on a 4.0 grade point system. Each grade maps to a grade point, and you can also enter a percentage to have the matching grade applied automatically.

A3.680–90%
B+3.270–80%
B2.860–70%
C+2.450–60%

How GPA is calculated

Your GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points. Multiply each subject's grade point by its credit hours, add them together, then divide by the total credit hours: GPA = Σ(grade point × credit) ÷ Σ(credit). Because credit hours act as weights, a high grade in a 4-credit subject moves your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit subject.

Example GPA calculation

For Mathematics (A, 3), English (B+, 3) and Science (A, 4): (3.6×3) + (3.2×3) + (3.6×4) = 10.8 + 9.6 + 14.4 = 34.8, divided by 10 credit hours = GPA 3.48.

Tips for an accurate result

  • Enter every subject for the term, including ones with low credit hours — they still affect the average.
  • Use the correct credit hours from your syllabus; guessing them changes the weighting.
  • If your marksheet shows percentages, switch the input type to Percentage and let the tool map the grade for you.
  • For a cumulative average across several terms, use the CGPA calculator.
