Bikram Sambat vs Gregorian
Bikram Sambat runs roughly 56–57 years ahead of the Gregorian (AD) calendar, but the two do not line up cleanly. BS months have different lengths that vary from year to year, so an accurate conversion needs an official calendar table rather than a simple offset.
The land measurement system
In hilly Nepal, land is measured as 1 ropani = 16 aana, 1 aana = 4 paisa and 1 paisa = 4 daam. One ropani is about 5,476 square feet. The Terai uses a separate bigha-katha-dhur system. The Ropani-Aana converter breaks a plot down through every level.
